The Deployment Plan describes the deliverables, milestones and resources needed for the deployment process. The deliverables encompass the software platform, the development, test and production environments, as well as the technical documentation that need to be delivered with the system and the packaging of the application software. The milestones and resources needs defines when the different pieces need to be in place and what resources are needed to accomplish that. The most important role for this document is to server as a contract between the project and the production organization, but it is also used to guide implementation of the development and test environments, test planning, and to guide the priorities of developers. The Deployment Plan is elaborated in cooperation with the production organization.
